"A fusion of span and Zen" was the directive of the American Massage Therapy Association, a professional association devoted to health and wellness. Inspired by natural textures, colors, and a flow of light and space, the essence of the mission and philosophy of AMTA was captured. The association's 18,000sf headquarters occupied the entire floor of the Davis Street office building, taking full advantage of the spectacular views of Chicago, the lake, the park and downtown Evanston, and providing natural light to all employees. The elevator and reception area convey the tranquility of an indoor Zen courtyard, with a pebble garden and soothing sounds of the water feature. The office’s open area has quite energy, with the combination of colors and pattern of flooring. Manipulation of the body is subtly reflected in the long curving and angled flow of circulation throughout the space
